Downton Abbey may be reaching its conclusion this week, but fans can still take a peek behind the scenes at where all the unforgettable moments from the beloved TV programme happened, on a festive break with Just Go! Holidays.

The saga of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants has been gracing our tv and cinema screens for the last 15 years but comes to an end when the third and final film ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ is released in cinemas on 12th September.

Highclere Castle provided the backdrop to the much-loved drama. Many of the rooms at the real life home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon will be familiar to viewers of the series – both the Drawing Room and Dining Room forming the backdrop to the dryly withering put-downs delivered by Maggie Smith, as the Dowager Countess to some poor unfortunate relation.

December is a magical time to visit as Highclere is beautifully illuminated by sparkling lights with ornaments, garlands, and baubles on a huge Christmas tree in front of a roaring open fire.

Visitors can experience the Christmas fair and unique gifts on offer, explore the Egyptian exhibition hidden in the castle cellar and enjoy a delightful, wintery walk in the gardens.

The tour also stops at Bath’s festive market for the opportunity to buy seasonal gifts and indulge in Christmas treats.

The two day Christmastime at Downton & Bath Festive Market costs from £229 per person with departures on 3, 4, 5 and 6th December 2025. The price includes return coach travel from pickup points around the country, overnight hotel stay with breakfast, visit to Highclere, copy of ‘Christmas at Highclere’ book and an excursion to Bath Christmas market.

Two additional tours ‘Downton Abbey – Behind the scenes’ and ‘The High Life – Highclere & Its Neighbours’are also available to book for next April and July.
