Manga Hotels has made its debut in New York City by acquiring the SoHo 54 Hotel, marking the Canadian group’s fourth property in the state

The 19-storey boutique hotel, located near SoHo, Hudson Square and Tribeca, has been converted to a TOOR Hotel—the first such property under the TOOR Hotel Collection in the United States.

Situated within minutes of Manhattan’s West Village, Greenwich Village and Little Italy, the rebranded hotel features 160 guest rooms and suites, and boasts a 3,000-square-foot restaurant space, a lobby bar and lounge, as well as a 625-square-foot rooftop terrace overlooking lower Manhattan. Further enhancements in line with the TOOR Hotel ethos will include destination dining options, an upgraded fitness centre, meeting facilities and flexible event spaces.

According to Sukhdev Toor, president and CEO of Manga Hotels, the company has had a presence in the United States since 2001, but the acquisition of SoHo 54 represents its “first foray into New York City.” He added, “We are thrilled to bring the TOOR Hotel Collection to this cosmopolitan city, offering a distinctive and inspired experience for the modern traveller.”

A proud Canadian brand, the TOOR Hotel Collection aims to capture the spirit of each host city through design-forward spaces and approachable hospitality. Manga’s portfolio now comprises 33 hotels totalling more than 6,000 rooms, alongside an additional 1,250 rooms in the pipeline. The group also has seven high-rise residential rental developments with more than 4,000 units—and a further 2,200 low-rise homes—in progress across the Greater Toronto Area.
